Our eldest daughter,, is 16 going on 17 (isn't that a song in the Sound of Music???).
Anywho, she loves writing, and horses, as most of you already know. Well she's been wanting to become a 'real' writer and I talked to her last week about 'pitching' ideas to editors. Well, she took me very seriously and she went ahead and emailed a bunch of horse magazine editors! LOL She didn't even talk to me about it first! When she told me, I was like
My first thought was, "you emailed editors, without having me edit your emails first?" lol I didn't say that though. I realised kids have to grow up some time, and I've been telling her to take her life into her own hands more, and so that's just what she did!
So, the next day she gets an email from one editor saying that she's very interested in having her write an article for their spring issue about foals. Alesia has a certificate from an online University in Michigan in post natal care (for horses that is), and has had hands on experience with her own foal, so they'd like her to write an article about it for next spring.
So she was VERY excited!
Well today, she received an email back from another editor saying they would like her to write a MONTHLY column for their magazine! They want her to gear it towards teens, from a teens point of view. She has to come up with the name of the column, and some ideas, and a bio with photo etc..
To say she is excited, is to put it VERY mildly!
Heck! I'm EXCITED! lol I like to write too, and have done a few articles in a couple of magazines, but have NEVER had someone offer me a monthly column! LOL
